The Film

The general Julius Caesar has defeated Pompey in battle and is on the verge of being crowned King of Rome. Fearful democracy will be destroyed forever, Senators Marcus Brutus and Caius Cassius conspire to murder Caesar. Instead of freeing Rome from tyranny, their actions throw the country into war.

Based on historical events, William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar examines honor and ambition in a world of gray areas. Set in an imagined future New York City, this contemporary take on a classic play was created to connect Shakespeare’s tragedy to the political and cultural landscape of modern America.
